The Drums new album has a few songs on it but it's a bit tiring tbh.
It's also a hard one to listen at work because the album cover is just him naked bent over. I don't want any old fuddle duddles to walk by and get a heart attack.

Primal Scream have just released a BBC session collection from 1986. We have a La's situation here, where a great band could never capture their live sound on their first record (Sonic Flower Groove sounds like dogshit) but then they go on and record at the BBC with total control and the result is phenomenal. This is a masterclass in how to record a 12-string guitar without it sounding GAY. Just listen to the majestic AFTERMATH and how tridimensional this version is, it turns from the stupidest ditty ever to a fucking massive teenage 80s British ballad. I lost everything this month, but as long as I have music like this, I'll be fine.
Oh god, I just want to get cabbaged and listen to Echo Dek now. Indefinitely.

You enjoy him Steve, just like I shall enjoy Morrissey!
I can't be fucked with Ryan Adams now, everything I hear that he releases just sounds fucking boring to me.

The problem I have with Ryan Adams now is that every record he puts out seems to be recorded in his bedroom: same computer, same pedalboard, same shit. Everything sounds so fucking same-y. But I'm sure if you condense down to one CD everything he's released in the past 12 years, you get one great album's worth of material.

Well, nothing against the guy and quite agree with you, but if I had released a thousand songs in that time I guess you might be able to say the same of my work

I dunno, that Ryan Adams tune sounds so... ordinary! I have no doubt some of the stuff he puts out is still enjoyable, but I'm wondering if in his last 8 albums there are some GREAT tunes, like My Wrecking Ball (2014) or Dirty Rain (2011).

Well I am telling you something that Live at Carnegie Hall album (2023) is quite nice. Though I'd be bored of it but fuck I've played it through again today.

Just had a casual listen to PJ Harvey's new album, and it's nowhere near as bad as I thought after reading your reactions. It's hard to say because it's almost impalpable. It's so slight, it's not even there. But as I listened more and more, I thought it was part of a bigger picture that for some reason I can't see yet. I understand the comparison with White Chalk, and I love White Chalk, but if you strip it down of all the icy/ghostly production, the songs are quite simplistic. There's nothing simplistic about this new one, nothing circular, it's just barren and meandering, and I have nothing to say apart from the fact that it invites a lot of further scrutiny.

What's the deal with death metal anyway? Even on RateYourMusic, it seems half of the each years chart is death metal albums. Either it's the greatest genre of music forever or these people are full of shit!
